Castle Combe Family Cycling Day

We are currently finalising plans for the 2018 Family Cycling Day – and it promises to be fantastic fun for everyone! We are teaming up with the brilliant guys over at the National Autistic Society to create an extra-special day of cycling and charity fundraising. Keep watching this page for more information.

Here’s some highlights from last year’s Family Cycling Day…

One of the highlights from previous years had to be the Circuit Lap Challenge. Offering the chance to cycle the 1.85 mile historic race circuit, the Circuit Lap Challenge was a “must do” on the majority of our visitors lists! We saw kids who must only have been 2 years of age or so going out on balance bikes, we also saw grandparents taking their grandchildren out on trailer bikes and kiddy seats. it really was an event for all. As a further incentive Castle Combe Circuit have offered four adult tickets for any motor racing event for the remainder of the 2017 season or the 2018 season. These tickets will be awarded to the family completing the most laps of the circuit.

British Cycling Youth Olympic ‘Go Ride’ Cycling Skills Challenge.
Go-Ride is a British Cycling scheme offering youngsters the opportunity to improve their cycling skills around a range of obstacles.
From children just off stabilisers to kids who have been cycling for a number of years, this offers kids of all ages the chance to have-a-go at improving their two-wheel skills.

Back for 2017 are Strider Bikes. Strider bikes are balance bikes for toddlers which are renowned for helping teach youngsters how to balance and ensuring that they start cycling early! The children have a fantastic time learning new skills and riding with their families for the first time. We even had a few that completed the circuit lap challenge last year.

After the success of the introduction of some fun cargo bike races in 2016 they will be returning this year. Bring your cargo bike to take part. For those without there should be an opportunity to borrow and set a time in the cargo bike challenge….!!

Castle Combe Circuit have on site catering called The Tavern that will be open for food. They serve a range of hot and cold snacks and drinks to keep you going all day. If you prefer to bring a family picnic there are plenty of areas to sit and enjoy the events or keep a watch on your children as they take part in the activities.
