The Castle Combe Family Cycling Day is the sister event to the Severn Bridge Sportive. Established in 2012, every year since the historic circuit has seen thousands of keen cyclists of all ages and abilities take part in a day of fun, family-friendly cycling.
Enjoyed the Tuesday Night Castle Combe Cycling sessions and want to bring your family along to experience the fun and safety of the car-free circuit? Want to get the kids outside and active this summer? Just fancy getting out on your bike with friends? Want to support a worthwhile charity? Interested in all things cycling? Know someone who is taking part in the Severn Bridge Sportive and want to cheer them on? If the answer to any of these questions is yea, then why not come along to the historic Castle Combe Race Circuit for a day of cycling fun for all the family!
Come and have a go at our very popular Circuit Lap Challenge for the chance to cycle the 1.85 mile historic race circuit, and win the star prize of a Family Ticket to any motor racing event at Castle Combe. In 2017, we saw everyone taking part: from kids who must only have been 2 years of age or so going out on balance bikes, to grandparents taking their grandchildren out on trailer bikes and kiddy seats.
Go-Ride is a British Cycling scheme offering youngsters the opportunity to improve their cycling skills around a range of obstacles.
From children just off stabilisers to kids who have been cycling for a number of years, this offers kids of all ages the chance to have-a-go at improving their two-wheel skills.
Back for 2018 are Strider Bikes – balance bikes for toddlers which are renowned for helping teach youngsters how to balance and ensuring that they start cycling early! The children have a fantastic time learning new skills and riding with their families for the first time. We even had a few that completed the circuit lap challenge last year.
The guys from Really Useful Bikes will be back once again to showcase their innovative vehicles, put on races, and let you have a go!
The brilliant National Autistic Society team will be with us throughout the day running stalls to raise money for the charity. The perfect way to spend some time having a rest from the bike!
The lovely team who look after our local roads are joining us with a fully-working gritter truck to help raise awareness about road safety and to encourage all road users to look out for each other!
We have a number of bike shops and product stalls coming along on the day, so bring your pennies and you could pick up a bargain! A pair of socks, a new helmet, even a bike…
The Tavern cafe will be open during the day, as will a number of other concession stands and an ice cream truck! Alternatively, there are plenty of lovely spots for a picnic at the side of the circuit.
