Castle Combe Family Cycling Day

We’re very excited about the 2019 Castle Combe Family Cycling Day – it’s going to be bigger and better than ever! We’ll keep updating this website as we have more news about what’s going to be happening during the day. In the meantime, you can see what we got up to in the sunshine at the 2018 event HERE.

The Castle Combe Family Cycling Day is the sister event to the Severn Bridge Sportive. Established in 2012, every year since the historic circuit has seen thousands of keen cyclists of all ages and abilities take part in a day of fun, family-friendly cycling.

Enjoy the Tuesday Night Castle Combe Cycling sessions and want to bring your family along to experience the fun and safety of the car-free circuit? Want to get the kids outside and active this summer? Just fancy getting out on your bike with friends? Want to support a worthwhile charity? Interested in all things cycling? Know someone who is taking part in the Severn Bridge Sportive and want to cheer them on? If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then why not come along to the historic Castle Combe Race Circuit for a day of cycling fun for all the family!

Adults: £5

Children: £2

Families: £10

Our Circuit Lap Challenge is back for 2019 – last year the family who rode the most laps got to take away the star prize of a family ticket to a Castle Combe Motor Racing Event. Why not come along and see how many laps you can do during the day – you can even get yourself sponsored for our charity partner the National Autistic Society, to help us in our goal of raising over £1000 for this great charity!

Go-Ride is a British Cycling scheme offering youngsters the opportunity to improve their cycling skills around a range of obstacles.
From children just off stabilisers to kids who have been cycling for a number of years, this offers kids of all ages the chance to have-a-go at improving their two-wheel skills.

Frog Bikes are delighted to be supporting the Castle Combe Family Cycling Day 2019. As well as manufacturing child specific lightweight kids’ bikes, one of our goals is to foster a generation of healthy, active and happy children with positive lifelong habits. In line with this, we will be supplying a full range of demo Frog Bikes available to try out on the day, ranging from our smallest balance bikes all the way up to our road bikes for future racers.

The brilliant National Autistic Society team will be with us throughout the day running stalls to raise money for the charity. The perfect way to spend some time having a rest from the bike!

We’re hoping that the lovely teams who look after our local roads will be joining us again to help raise awareness about road safety and to encourage all road users to look out for each other! We’ll hopefully have our lovely local traffic officer, a haulier from Tarmac with his ‘blind spot’ mat – you can even go up in the lorry and see what the drivers see – and Wiltshire Council Road Safety Partnership with their Close Pass Initiative.

We have a number of bike shops and product stalls coming along on the day, so bring your pennies and you could pick up a bargain! A pair of socks, a new helmet, even a bike…

The Tavern cafe will be open during the day, as will a number of other concession stands and an ice cream truck! Alternatively, there are plenty of lovely spots for a picnic at the side of the circuit.
